Changes in opening hours

Council’s waste management facilities to close earlier on Sundays as from 6 September.

5 August 2026

FROM Sunday 6 September 2026, Central Coast Council’s waste management facilities at Buttonderry and Woy Woy will close two hours earlier on Sundays, operating from 8am to 2pm instead of 8am to 4pm.

The change was adopted by Council as part of the Delivery Program 2025–2029 and Operational Plan 2026–27 and forms part of broader measures to address increasing cost pressures while maintaining essential services for the community.

Analysis of customer usage patterns found Sunday afternoons to be one of the quietest periods at both facilities. The revised operating hours will help reduce operating costs while ensuring both facilities continue to be available seven days a week.

Customers planning to visit on Sundays are encouraged to arrive before 2pm. Operating hours on all other days will remain unchanged.

Council also offers a range of alternative waste services, including six kerbside bulk waste collections each year for eligible households, helping residents dispose of unwanted items without needing to visit a waste facility.

To book a kerbside collection, go ‘bulk waste kerbside collection’ at Central Coast Council.
