THE Yarramalong community is a community that won’t be stopped by Covid and joined together to celebrate this wondrous time of the year in song.

EACH and every year the Yarramalong community have always gathered at the doors of Saint Barnabas Church to join in a merry tune and enjoy the company of other valley folk to celebrate the festive season.

Unfortunately due to covid restrictions and time constraints, the church community were un able to organise the usual traditional affair. Yet the community wasn’t going to be beaten - as is always said “when there is a will there is always a way”, and with a venue already available at Angel Sussurri they were able to host the Christmas carols for 2021.

Last Friday night (17 December) was a magnificent display of cheer and true community spirit; children running around squealing with glee; and carolling tunes lead by local musicians and entertainers, Libby and Graham Keating, Chris McKenzie and Peter Fish.

One of the highlights for the upcoming event was the moment Tim Eyes sent a text offering the use of the fire truck to bring Santa along to the festivities,

Yarramalong is just truly a haven of community spirit and in the 20 years of living in the valley, last Friday will always be by far one of my favourite memories.

When Santa appeared you would have thought a super star had arrived, the children’s eyes lit up with surprise, proving to us the spirit of Christmas is alive and well.
