England inspires football fans
4,000 lucky football fans got to the chance to witness the skills of some of the world’s best footballers when the England women’s football team held an open training session at Central Coast Stadium on 25 July 2023.

ENGLAND has been drawn in Group D against China, Denmark and Haiti with their first game on 28 July 2023 against Denmark at Sydney Football Stadium.
The team is based at Central Coast during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 and will train at Central Coast Stadium during the tournament.
Following the training session, fans got to meet the players and get selfies and autographs with their heroes.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held from 20 July - 20 August and see 32 teams compete over 64 matches, including 11 games in Sydney at Sydney Football Stadium and Stadium Australia that includes the Final on August 20.
Member for Central Coast Liesl Tesch joined the fans at the ceremony and said, “The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will see the world's best players compete for the greatest prize in women’s football.
“The open training session was an opportunity for 4,000 lucky Coastie fans to witness the skills of the players up close.
“It is fantastic to see our community get behind our female athletes and to see our local sports clubs cheering on the world-class English team.
“While I will be cheering on the Matildas during the Cup, I wish them all the best at the tournament and encourage Coasties to adopt the side as their second team.”
NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said, “The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 is an opportunity for communities across the State to unite in their love of football and celebrate the tournament coming to our shores.
“The open training sessions at Central Coast Stadium will inspire the next generation of footballers to play at the highest level.
“I urge anyone that has not yet purchased tickets to the tournament to do so.”
