ESCABAGS contain high-quality products for people in the community experiencing domestic or family violence. They are not gender-specific and come in two variations ‘Parent and Child’ and ‘Single Adult’.
The bags are available at Woy Woy Library, Umina Beach Library, Tuggerah Library, Lake Haven Library, Kincumber Library, Erina Library, and Gosford Library.
Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid “Escabags Ltd is an Australian registered charity who distribute ‘Escabags’ for victims fleeing domestic and family abuse."
“Central Coast Council have agreed to stock the bags at several libraries across the region for the community to access," Dr Reid said.
“Domestic and family violence is a scourge in our community, and we all need to play a part to end the violence."
The Federal Government is investing $4.4 billion in new funding to address the scourge of domestic and family violence. It is also responding to the Rapid Review into Prevention Approaches, including through investing in frontline services and initiatives to prevent violence.
“Ending domestic and family violence is a top priority for the Federal Labor Government, we have already invested over $3.4 billion in initiatives to support the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022-32," Dr Reid said.
“This is on top of billions the Federal Labor Government has committed for housing and support for single parents that we know will be of particular importance for our community escaping violence, including a $1.0 billion commitment through the National Housing Infrastructure Facility for housing for those impacted by violence and for young people."
