Minister fudges teachers shortage data again
On the eve of an election the Liberal National Government wants the public to believe that they can create 2,500 teacher positions within the next two years and that there is no teacher shortage.

Enough is enough...
Administration of public assets on the Central Coast seems to have become the flavour of the month, as the Perrottet Government holds the fate of the Central Coast Wetlands (formerly the Pioneer Dairy Wetlands Reserve) in its hand. The recent resignation of four board members from the Central Coast Wetland Trust has the Government rushing to place the Trust into administration prior to the election.

The Community Environment Network (CEN), the Central Coast’s peak environmental organisation, says the Central Coast Council’s draft plan of management for over 2100 individual parcels of community land grouped into 400 sites could fail to meet its legal obligations under the NSW Local Government Act and Regulations.

Pedotle thrills the crowd at Toowoon Bay
Visitors to Toowoon Bay Surf Club last weekend excitedly welcomed the first ever appearance of the 'Pedotle'.The Pedotle is an interactive sculpture designed with children in wheelchairs for everyone to enjoy. Pronounced per dottle , its part pelican, part dolphin and part turtle. It flies, blinks and even farts bubbles.

Funding secured for amenity, irrigation and drainage works
Following consistent advocacy from Yasmin Catley, Member for Swansea, to both local and state governments, a total of $3.02 million from the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5 has been allocated for irrigation and drainage works and upgrades to the amenities at Buff Point Oval, as well as to renew the amenities block at Halekulani Oval.

Health crisis: half of nurses plan to resign
On 20 January the Grapevine reported on the health crisis facing Central Coast Hospitals and hospitals around the state but a new report from the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association says that one in three nurses are planning to resign in the next 12 months.

NSW to legislate ban on offshore gas
The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government will legislate its existing policy to prevent offshore coal, gas, mineral and petroleum mining and exploration in NSW waters and ramp up its calls for the Albanese Government to prevent offshore mining in neighbouring Commonwealth waters.

Fire's burning
A fire in the Dooralong Valley last Sunday 5 February resulted in a triple zero call to emergency services and the Rural Fire Brigade (RFS) attending the property where the fire was burning. Adjoining neighbours were concerned whether the occupant of the property had a permit to carry out the burn, since the fire did not appear to be a planned event.
