MEMBER for The Entrance, David Mehan said the funding for the Girrakool Blues Festival would help the event organisers bring their vision to life and make a valuable contribution to the local visitor economy.
“I’m thrilled that the Girrakool Blues has received this funding from the NSW Government. This will help them deliver an event that The Entrance can be proud of and attract visitors to fill our hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions, which will play a key role in stimulating the local visitor economy,” Mr Mehan said.
“The Entrance has some of the best visitor experiences in the country and events like The Girrakool Blues play an important role in showcasing the diversity of our region and driving visitation, which helps sustain local businesses and create more jobs.”
Minister for Jobs and Tourism John Graham said that the $1.3 million in funding delivered through the Regional Event Fund would play an important role in supporting the events industry and building the state’s vibrant offering of cultural and sporting event experiences.
“We want to help these events reach the heights of the Deni Ute Muster or the Parkes Elvis Festival both now highlights of the NSW calendar. These unique events reflect the personalities of their communities and draw visitors from all over the country,” Minister Graham said.
“The NSW Government is committed to growing a vibrant visitor economy across the state by supporting a diverse range of events, driven by locals, who know their communities best.
“We know that regional events and event owners are faced with significant challenges in this current environment and these grants will help alleviate some of that financial pressure.”
Recipients of the 2024/25 Regional Event Fund align with the NSW Government’s ambition to drive the state’s visitor economy growth to even greater heights, with a review of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy currently underway, including new targets for regional NSW.
The Regional Event Fund is managed and administered by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. To view the full list of successful recipients and for more information on the program, visit here.
