LIESL TESCH, Member for Gosford, welcomes the community victory to save Pelican Park. The park was initially scheduled for demolition by Central Coast Council in 2021, before Ms Tesch successfully petitioned to save the park, with over 6,000 signatures collected in the first 48 hours.
With NSW Labor committing $180,000 to Central Coast Council for the upgrade of Pelican Park, news of the commencement of community consultation is welcomed by Ms Tesch and the wider community.
The three concept options open for consultation include a nature play, pirate-themed play and a traditional play design, with construction aiming to be completed before June 2024.
Ms Tesch encourages the community to get involved and have their say on what they want to see in the future of Pelican Park.
“Pelican Park is an icon of the Woy Woy town centre, bringing together families and community members to enjoy our beautiful Brisbane Water environment, Ms Tesch said.
“I have spoken to community members across the Gosford Electorate and beyond who speak of generations of memories at this park, and I am thrilled that generations to come will continue to enjoy this shared community space.
“I look forward to working with Council to improve community spaces across the Central Coast."
