THE previous signage was removed by Central Coast Council after it commenced renewal works to the amenities block at the location in February 2024.

Council, whilst previously not having any plans to maintain and keep the historical signage at the Archbold Road amenities building, agreed to retain these, following community outrage and petition.

The signage is an important part of Long Jetty’s history and Council has improved the design, the look and the location.

David Mehan said: “The historical signage plays an important part illustrating the heritage of our region, and its return should have never been a point of contention.

“I’m glad that Council has finally returned the signage which allows local and visitors alike to enjoy reading and seeing the heritage of our region.

“I commend the community for their tireless advocacy, which continues to confirm that as a joint voice, we can achieve anything.”

Local resident, Laurette Rose said: “At long last the historical signage has been returned and I am very happy to see the end result.”
