Donkeys prove capable guardians in wild dog protection trial
Trained donkeys have demonstrated their value in protecting sheep from wild dog attacks in an innovative trial in the Central Tablelands. According to Local Land Services officer Paul Gibb they would be equally effective on Central Coast rural properties to protect both sheep and goats.

Tesch welcomes free shuttle bus
Liesl Tesch, Member for Gosford, has welcomed the commencement of a free shuttle bus between Ettalong and Patonga Wharfs. From Monday 19 June 2023, while ferry diversion timetables are in place, the shuttle service will assist local ferry passengers reach their destination.

Last week’s Grapevine reported on the proposed Hunter Central Coast Offshore Wind Project by Energy Estate and outlined the pros and cons of such a development. The Hunter Offshore Renewable Energy Area extends from Norah Head to Port Stephens is in a horseshoe shape, coming to within 10 kilometres offshore at Norah Head and Port Stephens, which has local residents concerned.

Developers behind an offshore wind farm proposed for waters off the Central Coast have embarked on the process of seeking environmental approvals for the massive project, despite still awaiting formal declaration of that region as Australia’s second official development zone – but not all residents are happy about a wind farm ten kilometres offshore from Norah Head.
