SENIOR Land Services Officer from Greater Sydney Local Land Services, Liz Bulley said the first webinar ‘The East Asian-Australasian Flyway’ focused on the amazing journey that migratory shorebirds undertake each year, highlighting the Bar-Tailed Godwit.
“The second webinar ‘Saving Towra point Ramsar Site – Spotlight on the Eastern Curlew, Little Tern and Pied Oystercatcher’ focused on several iconic, threatened species that use the Towra Point Ramsar site for feeding and / or breeding,” Ms Bulley said.
“You’ll hear from bird expert and host Phil Straw, as we discuss the management threats to this important Ramsar listed site and put a spotlight on the Eastern Curlew, Little Tern and Pied Oystercatcher.
“Phil has a long history of involvement in migratory shorebirds and wetlands and a wide range of expertise in the area and first worked with the originator of the Ramsar concept in 1960.”
Ms Bulley said the webinars offered a valuable insight into the behaviours of migratory birds.
“Through these webinars, you will learn about four different, amazing birds that call Towra Point Nature Reserve home,” she said.
“We encourage you to view these webinars to increase your knowledge in these fascinating areas and hear from a true expert, Phil Straw.”
