Out with the old, in with the new
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat. Or maybe it’s the ham, or whatever you choose to partake in, is on the Yuletide table? All the goodies waiting to be heartily devoured with family, young and old.

THE holiday season is an opportunity to spend time with family, friends and loved ones, and reflect upon how lucky we are living on the Central Coast. It is also a time to reflect upon positive resolutions for 2024 and beyond. Think about past foibles and look toward to a positive future - sometimes offering a helping hand to those who need it.
Let us all come together with friends and family to share and enjoy, to laugh and to love and to cherish the importance of sharing memories and the special feeling that this season brings.
The Central Coast is also blessed with people from many different cultures who will come together and celebrate the festive season by participating in their own special traditions and customs, observing days of religious significance, giving and receiving gifts, and eating traditional foods.
Whatever your plans are to celebrate the season, the Grapevine Community News wishes you a happy festive season, a healthy and prosperous New Year and last but not least... stay safe!
And during the year past, in August the Grapevine celebrated twenty years of bringing you 'News That Matters' - for the first seventeen years in print and for the past three years in print and a weekly online edition. We championed important issues for the community, such as the proposed coal seam gas and longwall coal mining in the Central Coast's water catchment district, which would have had a negative impact on our region. We were unrelenting in exposing the truth and bringing the people together to fight the destructive and callous nemesis. We did this without expectation of reward, thanks or favour - it was done for the community because it was the right thing to do.
So, it was with great surprise in early October that the Grapevine received from the Minister of The Central Coast, David Harris, recognition of our twenty-year commitment to the Central Coast - a parchment certificate from the Parliamentary Hansard on 20 September 2023 of the Minister's speech.
So, here’s to a bright New Year and farewell to the tribulations of the year past; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold dear. From the Grapevine’s family to your family - Happy Holiday.
