MEMBER for Robertson, Dr. Gordon Reid MP visited Wiseberry Peninsula to support this year’s appeal and call on the community to get behind this campaign and help those struggling during a difficult time of the year.

“Winter is a particularly challenging time of the year for most of us, not least for those who might be homeless, escaping domestic violence or any other difficult circumstance. This year more than ever, we need to be supporting our brothers and sisters in the community who might be doing it tough or struggling to make ends meet,” Dr. Reid said.

“I have supported the Wiseberry Foundation’s 2022 Winter Appeal and I call on others in the community to do the same, if you are in a position to do so.

“COVID-19 is still here and causing a range of issues in the community, we mustn’t forget the outcomes we can achieve when collectively the community works together to overcome challenges and help vulnerable community members.”

Wiseberry Peninsula Property Manager, Ms Tammy Jackett has echoed the sentiments of Dr Reid and explained how overwhelmed with support previous years’ appeals have received.

“Last year, Wiseberry Peninsula was able to collect a phenomenal 367 bags of winter essentials to go towards people doing it tough in the community. This response was thanks to amazing small businesses, hard-working schools and kind-hearted community members,” Ms. Jackett said.

“We’re hoping this year we’re able to beat last year’s success and continue to show that our community is one of the most caring in the country.”

Wiseberry Peninsula Director and Licensee in Charge, Mr Rod Dillon thanked Dr. Reid for his support.

“It’s great to have the support of our new Federal Member for Robertson Dr Reid and it means a whole lot to have our elected officials get behind good causes that help make a difference to so many people,” said Mr. Dillon.

The Wiseberry Foundation 2022 Winter Appeal is collecting donations for Coast Shelter from June 1 until June 30. The appeal is asking for winter items such as socks, blankets, and warm winter clothing. Donations can be dropped off to Wiseberry Peninsula located at 264 West Street, Umina Beach.
